You likely are viewing this page because you were recently documented by a Public Safety officer or another staff person for an alleged violation of the Code of Non-Academic Conduct…

The following are some steps that you can take to insure you are as informed as possible about the judicial process and the possible ramifications of the documented situation.

  1. If you want to make sure your perspective is considered, submit a written statement directly to Public Safety as quickly as possible after the incident; you should submit your statement to Scott Rohde, Director of Public Safety, at srohde@wesleyan.edu. Your statement may be included in the PSafe report or it might be forwarded to the Dean of Student’s office separately.

  2. You will be able to read all of the PSafe reports documenting the incident you were involved in at the Dean of Student’s office. Contact Rick Culliton, Associate VP of Student Affairs/Dean of Students, at rculliton@wesleyan.edu, to make an appointment or to arrange to have the reports available for your review. You will not be able to take copies of the reports with you, so be prepared to take notes, if necessary.

  3. If you are transported to the hospital due alcohol or drug use, there may not be formal judicial follow-up, but you will have to complete some educational exercises and may have to meet with a health professional in the Health Center or in CAPS.

  4. You will be notified of any judicial charges through your Wesleyan email. The email will contain the charges as well as the date, time, and location of the hearing.

  5. If charges are filed against you, it may be helpful to consult with an available member of the Student Judicial Board or a trained process advisor. If you would like to speak with a member of the CSB about the hearing process, email Dean Culliton at rculliton@wesleyan.edu.  If you would like to review the list of process advisors, click here.

  6. If your case is referred to a Judicial Conference, you must respond to the initial email you receive to set-up a meeting with the Area Coordinator. If you do not, the case will be referred back to the CSB and you may face additional charges.

  7. If your case is resolved through a hearing, you should make every effort to attend. If you have a class conflict or other legitimate reason which prevents you from attending, contact the Dean of Student’s office as soon as possible to reschedule.

  8. Before attending either of these meetings, you should find time to come to the Dean of Student’s office to review the information related to your case. You do not need to make an appointment, simply come to the office during normal business hours (8:30am-5:00pm Monday through Friday)
