Faculty Guide to Accessibility Services
There are a variety of ways to accommodate the academic needs of students who have disabilities, in and out of the classroom. Accessibility Services provides support to students with disabilities, and also assists faculty, both in understanding their role in providing accommodations to students with disabilities, and in dealing with challenges as they arise.
In addition, the office works within the Student Academic Resources office to provide supports beyond accommodations. These supports, which include a focus on the development of metacognitive learning strategies and time management and organizational skills, are available to all Wesleyan students.
In recent years, Wesleyan faculty have also embraced various pedagogical tools and techniques that fall in line with Universal Design ideals. Some of these techniques have resulted in fewer individual accommodations needed to make a course accessible.
Our aim is to work in partnership with you to provide access to students in need. Please contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have regarding accessibility issues.
