Wesleyan Engagement Month is an opportunity.

An opportunity for class connection and building bridges. An opportunity to forge new relationships and strengthen old bonds. And an opportunity to give the world more Wesleyan.

Wesleyan alumni are invited to activate the possibilities of the Wesleyan community during “Wesleyan Engagement Month” this February.

Connect with fellow alumni during Wesleyan Meetups Week hosted by volunteers; if you’re in a reunion year, join your class for virtual happy hours leading up to reunion this spring; and celebrate the transformative power of Wesleyan on Giving Day.

    Frequently Asked Questions

When will I hear if my application is approved?

All Wes Social Meetups applications will be reviewed and approved by early December. Please note that Wesleyan reserves the right to decline, or propose edits to, Wesleyan Social Meetup applications.

How will I know who is attending my meetup?

Wesleyan will manage online registration for all Wes Social Meetups, using the minimum and maximum registration limits provided by the host. Prior to your meetup, staff will provide a registrant list and contact information, along with a host care package and suggestions for creating a great meetup experience. After the event, we ask that you provide us with final attendance numbers and a short event recap.

Will I get philanthropic gift credit for hosting a meetup?

Wes Social Meetups are intended to be small and free or self-pay events by their very nature, so we do not anticipate issuing tax documentation to hosts for gifts-in-kind to hosts as part of this program.

If you are interested in hosting a larger institutionally-driven event for Wesleyan in the future—such as a Summer Send Off or Regional Reception—please contact us at alumni@wesleyan.edu.

    Can I co-host a meetup with others?

Of course! We encourage alumni to team up. When you sign up, please include the names and contact details of all co-hosts and indicate who will serve as the lead contact for receipt of the host care package and other pre-meetup details.

Can I host a larger meetup?

While we anticipate most meetups to have 6–12-person capacity, we welcome requests for larger gatherings. If you have access to a larger public or non-residential space and would like to host a larger group event, please submit your request for review.

To help make your meetup inclusive and welcoming, consider inviting guests to bring a dish or drink to share, host a game night; meeting in a family-friendly setting like a playground).

If you are interested in hosting an institutionally driven event for Wesleyan in the future—such as a Summer Send Off or Regional Reception—please contact us at alumni@wesleyan.edu.

Can I host a meetup at my place of business?

Yes, you may host a meetup at your business if it provides a space conducive to socializing in the spirit of Wes Social Meetups. However, these meetups are not intended for business or service promotion, and as host, you assume responsibility and liability for the event.

As a reminder, if you are an alum with a business to promote we encourage you to add it to the Alumni Business Directory on WesConnect.

Can I propose an affinity-based or class-specific meet up?

Yes! Alumni are welcome to propose gatherings tailored to a specific affinity group or shared Wesleyan experience (e.g., Brooklyn alumni from the 1980s). However, in the spirit of Wesleyan social meet ups week, hosts should strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all registrants, regardless of affinity or class year.

Please remember that the goal of these meetups is to foster connections between as many alumni in a region as possible, based on your shared love of Wesleyan. In reviewing your request, Wesleyan reserves the right to decline any event or propose edits to the title, description or scope of your event in order to create as diverse a range of activities in geographic areas as possible.
