For undergraduate and graduate students to make changes to their spring schedule, including adding or dropping a 4th Quarter Class, navigate to your Class Schedule in WesPortal and take the necessary actions.
STUDENT DROP/ADD HELP PAGE- Request to Add a Class
-
Search for a course in WesMaps, using the new “Classes with Seats Available” link or the other search capabilities.
-
Click the “Add to my Enrollment Requests” on the course page.
-
The instructor must accept your add enrollment request and your advisor must approve the add.
-
If the instructor adds you to the class, the class will move from your “Pending Enrollment Requests” to your “Drop/Add transactions” (your in-process schedule), and you will see “Instructor Add” in the Status box. If the instructor does not add you to the class, the request will remain in your “Pending Enrollment Requests” and you will see "Pending Instr Action" in the Status box until you cancel it.
-
If your advisor approves your add, you will see “Advisor Approved” in the Status column next to the course, and it will become official and turn white in your “Drop/Add Transactions” schedule overnight. If your advisor does not approve your add, you will see “Advisor Disapproved” in the Status column, and the course will be deleted from your schedule. Until your advisor takes an action, that column will say “Pending Advisor.” If your advisor wants to discuss the add request, you will see “See advisor” in the Status column.
-
If you are attempting to add a class that would put you over your credit limit (see details about credit limits in Request a Credit Override), the course will be highlighted in red. You must either drop a course your are enrolled in or contact your advisor about extending your credit limit and this must happen by 5:00 p.m. the next day or the course will be deleted from your schedule.
-
- Drop a Course
-
To drop a course, check the 'drop' box in the column next to the course and click the 'Drop Course' button. The instructor does not need to approve your drop.
-
If your advisor disapproves your drop, you, your advisor, and the instructor will need to explore the possibility of your being readmitted to the class.
-
- Request a Credit Override
(You currently are enrolled in 4 full credit class(es) with a limit not to exceed 4)
Undergraduate students normally enroll in four full-credit courses. Your drop/add page informs you of the number of full credit courses you are already enrolled in and what your current credit limit is. By default your limit will be set to four if you are an undergraduate or six if you are graduate student. If you plan to enroll in more than your limit of full credit courses you should contact your advisor and discuss a credit override. Classes that will count toward the credit limit are classes that carry a credit value of 1.00 or greater. The courses listed below will not be counted toward the credit limit. The courses listed below will not be counted toward the credit limit.

- Tutorial Registration
Starting with spring 2009, tutorial course registration will be done through the EP Drop/Add system. Tutorial forms and requests will now be handled directly through the existing online Drop/Add system. Students will submit requests, and then Tutors, Chairs/Directors, and Advisors can access the tutorial forms and take appropriate approval actions. Tutorial transactions happen in real-time on the computer instead of by signing and submitting paper forms.
To submit a request the student must complete and submit the electronic form, the tutor may request information and/or meetings, then must approve the request, the chair/director review and must approve the agreed upon tutorial, and finally the advisor must approve the transaction.
All tutorials must be done through the Drop/Add system, except:
-
420- Student Forums, paper form available from Student Leader
-
492- Teaching Apprentice, via http://quicklink.wesleyan.edu/TAProgram
Students who have been approved as teaching apprentices (491 or 492) will need to accept the assignment in their portfolio. This is no longer a paper form. You may view the request in your student portfolio by clicking on "Teaching Apprentice Program" under "Wesleyan Career". In order to accept the teaching apprenticeship, click on the Course ID, select "yes" in the student decision box, and hit the submit button. If you have specific questions about your teaching apprenticeship, please send an email to Lisa Sacks

- Grading Mode and Crosslisting Change
In courses in which students have a choice of grading mode, the final choice must be made no later than fourteen days after the drop/add period ends. During the drop/add period advisees can change the grading mode of a class they are already enrolled through the drop/add system. After drop /add closes the change must be submitted using the withdrawa/grade change form. Crosslisting may only be changed during the drop/add period. To change the grading mode or crosslisting, use the drop-down menu that appears in the appropriate column in your course schedule or enrollment request list. If a drop-down menu is not appearing, the course only has one grading mode or is not crosslisted.
