What We Do
- We believe an equitable and inclusive education is transformative.
- We act in a transparent manner, with respect for the knowledge and experience of others.
- We selflessly serve and live our values together with students, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders to develop and support a community of inclusion.
- We strive to eliminate bias and discrimination, eradicate barriers to opportunity and achievement.
- We foster critical conversations and initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and social justice on campus and beyond.
- We believe in data informed processes and use Inquiry Based Research to guide our work.
- We develop and support efforts to recruit, retain and develop a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
The Resource Center advances broad campus engagement with complex issues of identity, history, and cultures as they affect intellectual, creative, and social life.
Our Pathways to Inclusive Excellence programs aim to ensure all students thrive academically at Wesleyan and beyond through programs that work to eradicate socio-economic and racial disparities in higher education.
Our Title IX and EEO Staff focus on prevention and response related to identity-based bias, discriminatory harassment and/or sexual misconduct at Wesleyan. They work to ensure we are compliant with state and federal guidance and regulations; they also investigate complaints related to Title VII and Title VI (discriminatory harassment) and Title IX (sex/gender bias and sexual misconduct) and disability discrimination.
In Spring 2024, the Office for Equity & Inclusion led a partnership to conduct a Campus Climate Survey. Once compiled, the information will be posted here.
Additionally, The Office for Equity & Inclusion helps support affinity groups for faculty and staff:
- AFCA (Administrators and Faculty of Color Alliance)
- PAWS (Pride @ Wes LGBTQUI+ faculty and staff)
