Web-based video conferencing tools like Skype, Zoom and Google Hangout have multiple applications in language teaching and learning. They can allow for students from various institutions to take classes jointly or be tutored remotely. Because most of these platforms also allow users to record both audio and video calls, they provide great platforms for activities where students can engage with the language - and each other - outside of class.
