Services for faculty

Digitization of audiovisual materials

The FCGS is prepared to digitize audiovisual materials needed for language teaching in accordance with the principles of fair use. The materials must be intended exclusively for instruction or research. Access to digitized materials must be limited to students enrolled in the class. For more information on fair use, consult the Wesleyan site concerning intellectual property and copyright laws.

Please note: an electronic ticket system will soon be implemented and will allow users to send requests using a form. In the meantime, please send your requests to Debbie Pozzetti (dpozzetti@wesleyan.edu) and include the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Name of film
  • Subtitles? (if so, in which language)
  • If segments are requested, name and beginning and end time for each segment
  • Date needed

Materials will be digitized in the order received.  We will honor all requests for materials submitted at least one week prior to the date needed and will try to honor others.

Audio and video recordings

The FCGS features a studio with professional equipment for audio and video production. This studio includes a recording booth for audio and a green screen for video.  Project requests must be submitted by email to Emmanuel Paris-Bouvret (eparis@wesleyan.edu) at least one week in advance of the recording date. Please include a brief description of your project so that we can work with you to develop it in greater detail.

Screenings

We encourage our language teaching faculty, TA's and FLTA's to organize screenings of world cinema in Fisk Hall.

Please note: an electronic ticket system will soon be implemented and will allow users to send requests using a form. In the meantime, please send your requests to Debbie Pozzetti (dpozzetti@wesleyan.edu) and include the following information:

  • Name of faculty member
  • Course number
  • Name of film
  • Date(s) and times for the screenings
  • To be shown with subtitles? (in which language?)
  • Classroom preference

We will honor requests for those who deposit their DVDs or Blu-rays with Debbie Pozzetti at least one week prior to the screening date and will try to honor others.

Equipment check-out

Audio-visual equipment such as USB microphones, video cameras or sound recorders are available for checkout in the Language Resources and Technology area. For more detailed information about the type of equipment we loan, visit the equipment check-out page.
