New Incoming Students | August 28 | Assigned Residence Hall | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM |
International students, First Things First participants and fall athletes should follow specific instructions from their program or coach regarding arrival dates and processes and can disregard the following information regarding the August 28th move-in process.
New Student Arrival Day (August 28, 2024) Move-In Appointments, Parking & Directions:
- New students must select a move-in timeslot in their WesPortal. The dates for registering for a move-in timeslot are TBD. All move-ins on August 28th are by appointment between 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, specific to your assigned residence hall.
- To minimize traffic congestion, and to ensure we have adequate support to help you unload your vehicle, we are asking all new students and families to adhere to their designated move-in appointment. Once your vehicle is unloaded, all cars must move to a parking lot for the remainder of the day. You will be given instructions / directions to the closest lot. There will not be any on-street parking available. Please do not leave your vehicles unattended while unloading.
- Please use the following address in GPS to get to campus: 303 High Street, Middletown, CT. Once you turn on to High Street, please turn off GPS and follow the signs to your specific residence hall, GPS will no longer be reliable.
- There will be signage to help guide you and plenty of staff on hand to answer any questions!
- All students need a picture ID to receive their room keys.
New Student Move-In Tips and Information:
- There will be limited carts and moving bins available during move-in and you are encouraged to bring your own if possible.
- Label your boxes / items with the student’s name, building and room number prior to arriving at campus. This will help us locate the owner if any items are lost.
- Please note that that there will be construction occurring on campus, especially on Lawn Ave near the Butterfields.
- Bennet and Clark halls are the only two first year residences with elevators. Please plan accordingly.
- If you do not have student renter's insurance, you are encouraged to explore options. Renter's insurance is low in cost and sometimes more comprehensive than family homeowner policies. Student renter's insurance can cover both theft and damage. The University does not reimburse or replace students' personal belongings. While the university does not recommend one particular company, and there are several options available, here are some reputable companies to consider:
National Student Services, Inc.
Students are encouraged to view the suggested packing list.
