Faculty Support
Wesleyan supports new faculty through
- New faculty orientation, hosted by Academic Affairs and the Office of Faculty Career Development
- New faculty advisor workshop, hosted by Academic Affairs
- Annual workshop on the tenure process for tenure-track faculty, offered by the Provost
- Faculty mentors, coordinated by academic departments/programs
Sources of support for faculty scholarship include
- Faculty fellowships in the Center for Humanities and the College of the Environment
- Grants in Support of Scholarship (GISOS), offering Wesleyan funds to support general scholarship, research projects, and participation in scholarly meetings
- External grant application support through the office of Foundation and Corporate Relations
- Library liaisons who will assist faculty in identifying resources for research
- The Center for Faculty Career Development, which hosts workshops on publishing and offers counsel on the research, writing, and publication process
Support for teaching and advising includes
- The Andersen/Rosenbaum grant in support of teaching and pedagogy (part of GISOS)
- An annual workshop for faculty advisors, during new student orientation
- The Writing Program offers a seminar and peer-mentoring for faculty wanting to improve how they teach academic writing
- The Center for the Arts offers support for collaborative, interdisciplinary courses, modules, commissions, and campus engagements that integrate the arts across the curriculum. Please find a listing of available grants here.
