Guidelines for Filming on Wesleyan’s Campus
In general, Wesleyan does not permit independent or commercial filming on its campus in order to avoid disrupting educational activities. In rare circumstances, the Office of Communications may make exceptions for news media seeking to highlight the work of students, faculty, or staff.
In general, there will be no charge for news media other than offsetting any costs incurred by the university.
Please seek permission from Media and Public Relations (media@wesleyan.edu), in the Office of Communications at least two weeks prior to filming date. Additional advanced notice is always appreciated.

Necessary paperwork:
- Production teams must provide a certificate of insurance at least 3 business days prior to filming.
- Any person captured on camera must sign the Wesleyan University Photo/Video Release Form.
- Production teams must also provide and obtain signatures for its own release form for any person captured on camera.
Other:
- University Communications must approve specific locations for filming on campus, and reserves the right to deny access to any building. Film crews are not permitted in dormitories.
- Production teams must provide information about the content of the production at least one week prior to filming date. University Communications reserves the right to deny permission for filming based on content.
- Specific permission must be obtained from the University for the use of remote controlled aircraft/drones on campus.
- Please consult with Media and Public Relations regarding appropriate parking locations for production vehicles.
