Social Media
Wondering which social media platform to use to reach your audience? Want to learn more about strategy and metrics? Need help setting up your account or access to approved Wesleyan profile icons? Our social media team is responsible for the University’s main social media accounts—as well as for our Wesleyan Athletics and Center for the Arts accounts—and for advancing the communication and marketing objectives of the Wesleyan campus community through various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, tumblr, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Should you start a social media account?
Maintaining social media accounts can be a full-time job. Before you move forward with your plans, ask yourself the following questions to help you determine whether doing so makes sense for you.
- Why do you want a social account?
- What goal/objective are you trying to achieve?
- Who will be responsible for posting to the account?
- Will you have enough content to post several times every week—even daily—on a consistent basis?
- Who is your intended audience?
- How will you attract followers?
- How will you grow your channel and audience?
- Who on your staff will engage with your audience on a regular basis, in order to retain your followers?
