Dear Families and Friends of the Class of 2026,
It’s hard to believe that we are already in the swing of the spring semester! Despite the lingering snow on the ground, there’s a noticeable vibrancy on campus as students embrace the excitement and opportunities that come with this time of year.
Your students are now in the final semester of their junior year, and are probably starting to seriously consider their next steps. This is a perfect time for them to dive deeper into their academic interests, focus on fulfilling major requirements, and take meaningful steps toward their senior year. While commencement is still a year away, it is important for your student to set aside time to review their academic progress with their faculty advisors to make sure they are on track to graduate next spring. For those students considering an honors thesis, they should begin thinking about potential topics and connect with faculty members who might serve as their thesis advisor.
Here are a few key dates to keep in mind for the upcoming months:
- Spring Break: March 8 – March 23
- Course Pre-Registration Planning Phase: April 1 – April 14
- Course Adjustment Period: April 16 – April 22
These dates will be important for your student as they plan ahead for course selection.
Your student might start to have conversations about what life beyond Wesleyan looks like. Whether they’re thinking about pursuing graduate school, fellowships, or diving straight into the job market, this semester is key to making connections and laying the groundwork for what comes next. Encourage them to meet with their academic advisor to discuss plans and use resources like the Gordon Career Center for guidance on internship opportunities, job search strategies, or graduate school preparation.
Spring is a great time for reflection and forward planning, as your student continues to shape their academic and career paths.I will be in touch again before the end of the semester to provide additional updates. In the meantime, please don’t hestitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Best,
