Research interests and personal statements:
The research interests answers the following question:
"In your own words describe your research interests/question that could potentially be the basis of your McNair research project and propose methods for implementing it." (250-450 word limit).
The personal statement answers the following questions:
"What are your academic and research interests? Why do you want to go to graduate school? How will participation in the McNair program fit into your long-range academic and professional plans? Please include any research experience you may have, and other experiences that you have had that will help you succeed in graduate school." (300-500 word limit)
2. Letter of Recommendation
Applicants, PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING
1) Waive(or not waive) your right to examine the letters of reference by completing Part I of the Evaluation Form.
2) If your recommendation letter writers ARE Wesleyan faculty, send them Part II of the Evaluation Form.
Please copy and paste the link to this page and ask your recommenders to click on "Part II of the Evaluation Form" and login in with their Wesleyan Portal credentials. If this link fails to work, please download the form by clicking on "paperwork" below and ask your recommenders to return their completed and signed forms to Ronnie Hendrix via email at rhendrix@wesleyan.edu.
If your recommendation writers ARE NOT Wesleyan faculty, please download the form by clicking on "paperwork" and ask your recommenders to return their completed and signed forms to Ronnie Hendrix via email at rhendrix@wesleyan.edu.
*If your recommenders prefer paperwork, they can submit them to Ronnie Hendrix via email at rhendrix@wesleyan.edu.
Note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your recommendation letter writers complete and submit your evaluation forms by the deadline.

After we receive all your application materials, you will receive a confirmation message from the McNair Office.
3. Required Supporting Documents
- Signed copy of your parent's or legal guardian's most recent federal income tax form (or explanation if none filed with parent's or legal guardian's signature).
- Only the first few pages. See example for 1040.
- Copy of financial aid award letter (a copy from your student portfolio is acceptable)
- Copy of your transcript (a copy from your student portfolio is acceptable)
- Resume
Federal TRiO programs have income levels that must be met for participation in their US Dept. of Education programs. Information on current income guidelines can be found at: http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/trio/incomelevels.html
