Student reserchers funded by federal grants are paid hourly through Workforce Time. Payroll and work schedule guidelines for students are available here. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at scienceresearch@wesleyan.edu.
WHAT FACULTY ADVISORS NEED TO KNOW:
- Students may work no more than 37.5 hours each week.
- Students are responsible for coordinating with their advisors to plan their schedule and for clocking in and out for their time worked.
- Workshops and seminars count as paid hours, but social activities do not. Please have a discussion with your student researcher about which (and how many) workshops are appropriate.
- June 19 and July 4 are holidays and students are encouraged not to work. Seasonal employees do not receive holiday pay or extra pay for hours worked on a holiday.
- Students must clock out for a 30-minute break during any shift of 7.5 hours or more.
- Students who are awarded Research in Science Fellowships funded by CIS will receive two lump-sum payments and do not need to record their hours.
