Starting in summer 2023, students in the Research in Summer Program will be paid hourly. Payroll and work schedule guidelines for students are available here. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at scienceresearch@wesleyan.edu.
WHAT FACULTY ADVISORS NEED TO KNOW:
- Students may work no more than 37.5 hours each week.
- Students are responsible for coordinating with their advisors to plan their schedule and for clocking in and out for their time worked.
- Workshops and seminars count as paid hours, but social activities do not. Please have a discussion with your student researcher about which (and how many) workshops are appropriate.
- June 19 and July 4 are holidays and students are encouraged not to work. Seasonal employees do not receive holiday pay or extra pay for hours worked on a holiday.
- Students must clock out for a 30-minute break during any shift of 7.5 hours or more.
- The CIS AA will approve timesheets for the CIS funded students in your research group and will be happy to help answer any questions that come up over the summer.
