Connecticut has an archaeological record going back more than 12,000 years, and the Office of State Archaeology was created to manage, research, and preserve these resources. Come learn more about Connecticut’s past and how the lives of free-Black communities, Indigenous people, colonists, and more are visible archaeologically! Come listen to Dr. Arnold’s lecture on Iron Age Celtic feasting activities in the Woodhead Lounge (Exley 184), on October 16th at 4:30 pm. New advances in residue analysis and archaeological discoveries in France and Germany offer new perspectives and avenues to explore. Dr. Arnold will cover these new discoveries and further discuss contributions to this topic from collaborators outside of the field, including craft brewers.

If not, Wesleyan’s Archaeology & Anthropology Collection and the Archaeology Program have the event for you! Join us on Friday, October 25th from 4:30pm-6:00pm, for the annual Pumpkin Carving with Stone Tools event at the Shapiro Center Patio. This event requires pre-registration! Sign up for one 45 minute slot, either 4:30-5:15, or 5:15-6:00pm. Sign-ups are limited to 40 people per slot. It’s a can’t miss, fun event!
