Mark Slobin
I am an ethnomusicologist specializing in musics of Afghanistan and Central Asia, Jewish music, film music, American music, and theory & method of ethnomusicology. I taught at Wesleyan from 1971-2016.
For a thorough survey of my work, see http://markslobin.com, a website that includes the now-defunct website http://afghanistan.wesleyan.edu, a selection of published and unpublished writings organized by topics, and a portfolio of my ink drawings, a retirement hobby.
My Phd. is from the University of Michigan, where I was the first-ever graduate student in ethnomusicology. I have done visiting courses at Harvard, Yale, NYU, and University of California at Berkeley.
