Research with Impact

Working alongside expert faculty-scholars, you’re empowered to dive into research projects, often across disciplines. You don’t just learn about research—you live it by presenting at conferences and publishing your findings.

Research Opportunities at Wesleyan

In 2023, we launched the College of Design and Engineering Studies, equipping our students with skills that span design studios, science labs, architecture firms, engineering offices, and tech startups. In 2026, Wesleyan will open a premier new science facility that will be home to chemistry, molecular biology and biochemistry, and biology departments.

The Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life empowers students to explore civic engagement through interdisciplinary research, while the Wesleyan Media Project provides insight into political advertising and media influence. The Quantitative Analysis Center supports data-driven research, providing students with the resources to apply statistical methods across various disciplines.

Research that Matters

At Wesleyan, students work alongside faculty on groundbreaking research. Whether through lab experiments, creative projects, or publications, our unique blend of liberal learning and high-performance research prepares students to make an impact.

  • What’s happening here is that they’re [faculty] not just going to make the decision for their own students, they want to make the decision for every student.

  • A really big, important part of this [annual poster session] is being able to communicate your science to the aficionados, to an educated scientist who’s maybe not in your field, or to someone’s totally unfamiliar with the topic.
