Dear Families and Friends of the Class of 2026,
As the fall starts to wind down and we move into the final stretch of the semester, I wanted to share some important information and updates as your student prepares for final papers, projects, exams, and the upcoming winter break.
Thanksgiving break starts on Wednesday, November 27 and ends on Sunday, December 1. This would be a great opportunity for you to check in with your student to see how they are feeling now that they are more settled into the Wesleyan routine. You’ve likely seen a lot of changes in your student from their first year to now and it would be a great time to ask your student to reflect on what they’ve learned about themselves and the world since they’ve been at Wesleyan.
The last day of class is Friday, December 6, followed by reading period which starts on Saturday, December 7 and ends at 5pm on Tuesday, December 10. Finals start at 7pm on Tuesday, December 10 and end on Saturday, December 14. Housing closes at 12 p.m. on Sunday, December 15. Students who need to remain on campus during the winter break must apply for winter housing by November 18. Please note, winter break housing is not guaranteed. More information about housing can be found on the ResLife webpage.
Looking ahead, winter break would be another great time to start talking to your student about meeting with the Gordon Career Center to start thinking about applying for internships, making sure they are looking at their major certification to ensure they are making successful progress towards the completion of their major, and encouraging them to continue to take advantage of the programs and resources on campus.
I will write to you again in a few months, however, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email.
Best,
Shelissa Newball
