April 2025
Dear Parents & Families of Students in the Class of 2027:
The weather is getting warmer and students are now turning their attention toward the end of the term. Your students have declared majors and they now have the chance to select courses in their area(s) of interest.
As we move forward with the term, the deadline to withdraw from courses is coming up on April 30. Please encourage your student to connect with their instructors, advisor and me if they’d like to talk through this decision. Classes end on May 7. We will then have a Reading Period from May 8–12 and final exams will run from May 13–16. University housing will close on May 17. It’s a hectic time of year, so please encourage your student to prioritize their health, practice self- care and be in touch with me if they have questions at any point.
If students are considering studying abroad, please encourage them to connect with the Office of Study Abroad to discuss the different programs and processes. Wesleyan recommends that every student participate in study abroad, regardless of major, and believes that immersion in a foreign culture can be a transformative experience, both personally and academically. Students can also take a course over the summer, either at Wesleyan or at another institution; please ask them to connect with me if they have any questions about this. The Career Center also offers credit for internships; more information can be found here.
This is an exciting time, as your students are now at the halfway point of their time at Wesleyan, and many exciting opportunities lie ahead for them. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please be in touch.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Wood
