April 2025
Dear Parents and Families of Students in the Class of 2025:
April showers are in full force as our campus welcomes the change of season. Classes end on May 7, followed by the reading period from May 8 to 12 and final exams from May 13 to 16. Senior Week runs May 20—22. The 193rd Commencement ceremony takes place on Andrus Field on Sunday, May 25. No tickets or reservations are required; seating is available on a first come, first served basis. Visit the commencement site for a full calendar of the weekend activities. Please note that seniors must move out of their campus residence by 4 p.m. on May 26.
For many seniors, graduation can feel bittersweet. The celebration instills tremendous feelings of pride and personal accomplishment for the work done and knowledge gained; however, this elation may be tempered by a feeling that one is losing their Wesleyan community. Students should take comfort knowing there are countless opportunities for graduates to stay connected through social media, class reunions and various alumni events across the globe. For all the goodbyes to be said over the next few weeks, new friendships will be made in the communities where your students will spread their wings and transition to life beyond Wes. Wes is a place where alumni stay connected, and we welcome it! Encourage your student to stay connected; to keep us updated on their future journeys by joining WesConnect, a student and alumni networking platform; and to not forget that the Gordon Career Center is available to graduates even after they leave campus.
In these final weeks, seniors still have papers to write, projects to complete, and exams to take. I’ve provided the Class of 2025 instructions on how to complete various senior tasks such as confirming the spelling of their name on their diploma, ordering a cap and gown for the ceremony, and purchasing senior week tickets (if interested). If your student has questions about any of these tasks, have them contact me or visit the Class of 2025 blog which highlights these expectations.
It has been wonderful working with you and your student as the Dean for the Class of 2025. I look forward to seeing you at Commencement!
Take care,
Kelly Dunn, Ed.D.
