Neither Grand nor Modest: Critique as a form of historical analysis

This talk will argue that critical approaches to history need neither endorse grand narratives nor restrict themselves to small case studies. Using material from my new book, Sex and Secularism, I will try to formulate what I take to be a vision of theoretically informed critical history.
