Project Description: Residence hall complete renovation
Construction Start Date: June 2001
Current Status: Project Complete
Project Goals:
- Preserve the historic character of the building.
- Create community spaces and a residence hall that functions as a living/learning center.
- Increase the number of social spaces, both indoor and outdoor.
- Create an entrance to the building.
- Add natural light to the corridors and brighten the interior building finishes.
The Clark Hall renovation broke ground in June of 2001 and was completed in August 2002. Building demolition left only the outside walls and floor slabs. ADA accessibility was achieved with the installation of an elevator, regrading the landscape and redesign of all interior living spaces. Small lounge spaces at the north, south and west side of the building allow natural night to flood the corridors. Kitchenettes for student use are provided on each floor. The larger lounges on the ground floor provide spaces where the entire building community can gather. In addition to the lounge spaces on the ground floor, a laundry room, vending area, full kitchen, bike storage room, residential life office and lobby are provided.
