About the Exhibition
As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Mansfield Freeman Center for East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University, Sound of Korea presents a variety of artistic media that explores the beauty and strength behind the delicate expression that is Korean art.
The exhibition in the gallery and in the upstairs reading room features photography and film by videographer, photographer and sound artist Young-Il Kim. Young-Il Kim is known for documenting uniquely Korean landscapes and sounds in his photos and videos, which feature the mountains of Pyeongchang, Korean traditional music, and sounds from Korean nature. Young-Il Kim's photography became well-known when he did some official photography related to the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
In paying homage to Wesleyan’s reputation in the study of film, the exhibition will also present the work of producer Dong-Yeon Won.
The exhibition will be closed Monday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
