I’m delighted to share a preview of the Center for the Arts fall 2024 schedule of special exhibitions and performances. Many events are free and open to the public. Ticketed events will go on sale online through the Wesleyan University Box Office on Wednesday August 28, so be sure to “save the date” to grab your seat!
Taking place throughout the CFA’s iconic Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo-designed complex, the fall program kicks off with a new music theater work by Sunny Jain that looks to performance’s power to assemble community across diaspora, solo presentations in the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery by Justin Caguiat and Grant Mooney that probe the material and perceptual relations of the exhibition space, and opportunities to experience art from around the world including Japanese bunraku puppetry as well as Indian music and dance.
Continuing the CFA’s development of longer and deeper relationships with visiting artists, we’ll be hosting composer Jlin, choreographer Abby Z, author Saidiya Hartman ’83, Hon ’19 with director Kaneza Schaal ’06, and multidisciplinary artist Jen Kutler to collaborate with students, faculty, and staff towards the creation of innovative new works. And stay tuned for a special announcement in the coming weeks of programming from this year’s CFA Artist in Residence Anna Deavere Smith.
In addition to this rich and diverse program, this fall the CFA will also unveil a new design strategy and visual identity developed by the firm Waterhouse Cifuentes Design that will help communicate the new direction the CFA is moving in the years ahead. I had the pleasure of writing about this vision for the latest issue of Wesleyan University Magazine, which you can check out online.

Warm wishes,
Joshua Lubin-Levy ’06, Director
