Fall Faculty Dance Concert: It takes all kinds!

The Dance Department presents It takes all kinds!, a provocative and intriguing double-bill evening featuring a meditative duet, Abide, and It takes all kinds! unveiling sixteen fierce, over-the-top solos performed in drag by students from DANC 366 “Queering the Dancing Body: Critical Perspectives on LGBTQ Representation.” A remarkable, one-of-a kind Wesleyan experience conceptualized by Professor of Dance, Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Global South Asian Studies Hari Krishnan.
Abide (1979/2023)
Choreography by Stephan Koplowitz ’79 and Hari Krishnan in collaboration with the dancers, Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance Five Ihza Marchiano and Akhil Joondeph ’26.
Music by the late John Spencer Camp Professor of Music Emeritus Richard K. Winslow ’40, Hon ’10, P ’71, GP ’23 (1918–2017). This new reconstruction/reimagining of Abide was also performed at "A Tribute to Richard K. Winslow" on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Crowell Concert Hall.
