Following the completion of a seventeen-concert cycle of his complete piano music at Wesleyan in March 2019, John Spencer Camp Professor of Music Neely Bruce embarks on a new recital series featuring his chamber works, starting with four of his quartets performed by the West End String Quartet—Sarah Washburn and Marianne Vogel on violin, Wesleyan Chamber Music Ensemble Director John Biatowas on viola, and Anne Berry on cello. This concert will feature the world premieres of “A String Quartet for Ralph Matson” and “A Quartet of Fugues,” based on the names of the members of the West End String Quartet; plus “A String Quartet for Alvin,” written for the retirement of John Spencer Camp Professor of Music Emeritus Alvin Lucier in 2011, and “A Partita for Roy Lisker.”
