A magnificent orchestra of bronze gongs, xylophone, drums, strings, and voices, the gamelan accompanies feasts, ceremonies, and dances. Wesleyan's Javanese Gamelan ensemble, under the direction of University Professor of Music I. Harjito, and the Connecticut Community Javanese Gamelan present the classical music of Central Java.
