The Size of the Con: A Public Talk by Laurie Anderson
Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 8:00pm
Smith Reading Room, Olin Library, 252 Church Street, Middletown
FREE! Reservation required.
During the free talk "The Size of the Con," writer, director, visual artist, and vocalist Laurie Anderson will address how to prepare for the 2020 election cycle and the tumultuous year ahead in the United States. Seating is limited, reservations required.
This speech was originally commissioned by the Brooklyn Public Library, asking leading cultural figures to reflect on today’s most precarious issues, convening diverse voices in a safe space to have meaningful dialogue about the political, economic, social, and cultural issues of the day. The speech will be available as a printed chapbook following her lecture.
On Friday, November 8, 2019 at 7:30pm Laurie Anderson will perform the Connecticut premiere of the new work "The Art of Falling," which explores the subject through sounds, images, poems, and electronics, in Crowell Concert Hall at the start of her artist residency supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
