Alex Dea Ph.D. '80 is a performer and composer who has devoted himself to the performance, study, and documentation of Javanese court gamelan for over 25 years. He also studied with Terry Riley, and assisted La Monte Young on The Well Tuned Piano. His own compositions draw on these different sources to create a distinctive crossing of musical boundaries.
