Make art! Draw! Move! Sing! Chat! Gather to make a performance as part of Moving Conversations/Making Community on four Mondays from 6pm to 7:30pm. All ages are welcome, including families with children as long as there is a participating adult.
Moving Conversations/Making Community is an opportunity to explore ideas and make art as a group. You will talk about skills of communication and investigate how those skills work in making a project together and beyond. Participate in structure movement improvisations, where an individual can make personal movement choices within parameters set by the group. Reflect on images that are important to you, building them with your bodies and drawing/writing a mural each meeting. Create sound, listen for rhythms, melodies, and harmonies as you move and invite musicians to play.
This event is a gathering of people who are interested in meeting folks with different strengths and points of view. A commitment to the group is important because each individual composes and contributes to the group. Commitment means respecting each other with sensitivity and optimism. The group will meet four times, and share what has been created at the end of the fourth meeting on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 7pm with friends and family. You can commit to all four meetings, but you can also participate if you cannot make all of the meetings as well.
Meetings will be held in the Russell Library Children’s Activity Room (although the program is not just for children). The group will also reflect on how they made what they share.
