Sam Friedman and Friends demonstrate some of the many ways that the harmonica has been utilized in the nearly 200 years since its invention. A variety of original and traditional pieces, as well as tunes by Brownie McGhee, Little Walter Jacobs, Billy Taylor, and Pee Wee King and Redd Stewart, will illuminate different points along the cross-cultural evolution of this small instrument's amazing journey. Mr. Friedman will be accompanied by guitarist Howe Pearson '12, pianist Derek Frank '15, vocalist Jackie Soro '14, and bassist Zack Rosen '11.
Mr. Friedman performed as part of the Wesleyan Consort at The Russell House in February 2014.
Part of the Music at the Russell House series.
