Financial Aid for Graduate Students

Some graduate programs at Wesleyan offer financial support via scholarships, tuition remission benefits, and stipends tied to assistantships or fellowships. Visit Graduate Student Services and Graduate Liberal Studies for more information on graduate programs offered at Wesleyan.

In addition to program-specific financial assistance, graduate students who are matriculated, enrolled at least half-time and are US Citizens or Eligible Non-Citizens are eligible to apply for a Federal Direct Loan by completing the requirements listed below.  

 

Documents Required:

  • 1. FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA) 2025-26

    Submit the FAFSA for the appropriate academic year.  If unsure, please contact our office.

    The 2025-26 FAFSA will be available in December 2024.

    • Electronic processing takes approximately 3-5 business days. Be sure to submit in a timely manner so that you do not miss the deadline.
    • Wesleyan recommends that you use the IRS Data Retrieval tool to import your tax information if eligible.
  • 2. ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION FORM

    The Financial Aid Office will receive this form directly from the Graduate Office once the student's enrollment has been confirmed at the end of the drop/add period. If you have not done so already, please contact the appropriate graduate studies office (i.e. Continuing Studies for GLSP or the Graduate Office for MA/PhD candidates). 

  • 3. LOAN REQUEST FORM
    Should you wish to pursue Federal Direct Loans, the Financial Aid Office requires you to submit a written request, stating how much you are seeking to borrow. Please note that graduate student are only eligible to borrow unsubsidized loans. The 2025-26 Loan Request form should be mailed to finaid@wesleyan.edu. Please be advised that the Federal Direct Loans can take up to 7 business days to process once the Loan Request Form is received.
  • 4. AWARD LETTER WITH THE STUDENT'S SIGNATURE
    Once the Financial Aid Office receives confirmation of your enrollment from the Graduate Studies Office, we will package you with any loans you have requested. For your loans to disburse to your Student Account in a timely fashion, a signature is required on your official award letter, which will specify your Cost of Attendance, and will incorporate any forms of financial aid that you are receiving. Signed award letters can be mailed to finaid@wesleyan.edu.
