Applied data science is a multidisciplinary area of study that, in the era of so-called “big data,” supports evidence-based decision-making. Wesleyan's applied data science certificate is designed to supplement work in any discipline through the development and integration of appropriate computational and statistical analysis techniques and systems.
What You'll Study
- The applied data science certificate program includes eight courses: one basic knowledge course; two mathematical, statistical, and computing foundation courses, each from a different group; two applied data science courses; two credits in applied electives; and a one-credit data analysis practicum capstone that includes an ethics and epistemology seminar discussion. Students also complete an independent data science project.
- Because the certificate emphasizes a learning-by-doing approach, you'll be working with real world data addressing real world problems in a highly collaborative environment, both inside and outside the classroom.
