Phillip G. Resor
A structural geologist, Phil Resor studies rock deformation with an emphasis on the geometry and mechanics of fault zones with applications to earthquakes, planetary science, and energy resources.
He also develops hands-on data-rich teaching activities that address societally relevant problems as part of community efforts to improve the teaching of undergraduate geoscience courses.
Examples of his scholarly work can be downloaded or read via links at his ResearchGate, Google Scholar, or WesScholar pages. Curricular contributions can be found on his SERC Profile page.
Professor Resor joined the Wesleyan faculty in 2004, returning to New England and the liberal arts 15 years after graduating from Dartmouth College. In the intervening years he worked as an outdoor educator and professional geologist as well as completing a master’s degree at the University of Wyoming and doctorate at Stanford University.
