Gallery: Students Enjoy Spring Fling 2024 Festivities
Students took a break from their pre-finals studying to enjoy a sunny day of live music, delicious food, carnival games, and fair rides during Spring Fling, May 9. Headliners Ferg, formerly known as A$AP Ferg, and Snail Mail performed along with student musicians and dance groups.

Patricelli Center Awards Funding to Three New Student Ventures
The Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship gave out New Venture Awards to three budding student-led organizations—the Mudanza Dance Project, Pyari, and Nailepu Foundation—aiming to make a deep impact in their respective communities on April 22. Three other finalist organizations also received funding.

No Democracy Without Slavery: A Revolutionary Conversation with Nikole Hannah-Jones
Few journalists have challenged Americans to reimagine who we are as a nation as much as Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones—creator of The New York Times Magazine’s “1619 Project.” On April 25, Hannah-Jones, Knight Chair in Race and Journalism at Howard University, came to Wesleyan to discuss the project and the danger of a democracy that requires constant repression.

The New York Times
The Invisible Institute, founded by Jamie Kalvan ’69, won a Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting for its 11-episode podcast “You Didn’t See Nothin” about a vicious hate crime at a Chicago housing development in the 1997. The firm’s reporting and Kalvan’s role in the story was profiled in The New York Times. This was one of two Pulitizer’s won by the Invisible Institute this year.

Variety listed The College of Film and the Moving Image among its “2024 Top Film Schools in North America.” Scott Higgins, director of The College of Film and the Moving Image, said “While we teach skills such as analytical and creative writing, producing, shooting and editing, our goals are broader. We aim to help undergraduates discover their goals and to develop their creative and critical voices in a collaborative community founded on a passionate commitment to the moving image.”
