Power of Language Week
Organized around the celebration of International Mother Language Day (Feb 21st), Power of Language Week seeks to highlight bilingualism, multilingualism, and second language acquisition. Various events will showcase the many forms that cross-lingual communication can take, while also highlighting the importance of linguistic empathy in our increasingly multicultural and interconnected community.

Language Buddies
The Language Buddies program is a program housed in the Fries Center for Global Studies that matches or groups interested Wes students, faculty, or staff members with one another to practice their language skills over academic breaks through a series of self-paced, conversational activities.

Internationalizing and Decolonizing the Curriculum Seminar
In order to continue to promote intercultural and global learning, FCGS holds a seminar designed to help faculty internationalize their courses and curriculum. Faculty members come together to discuss their efforts, past and future, to incorporate global perspectives and intercultural learning into their teaching and curriculum. The outcome for each participant should be a new course, a new unit of a course, an existing course re-worked, or other project in which each faculty member demonstrably internationalizes their teaching or their department’s curriculum. -
World Literature in Translation
Courses in WLIT include any that focus significantly on the reading and interpretation of literary texts (broadly construed to include prose, poetry, and film) originally produced in languages other than English, but studied in English translation. -
Global Education in the Liberal Arts Conference
The Sixth Annual Global Engagement in the Liberal Arts Conference will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 and Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Wesleyan University. This conference's theme is Language, Identity, and Global Learning: The Values of Multilingualism.

Wes and the World Photo Contest
Each year, we ask Wesleyan students who have had any global experience over the previous summer and/or previous semester to submit photographs to the annual Wes in the World Photo Contest. This group includes study abroad returnees, international students, exchange students, fellowship recipients, and foreign language teaching assistants.
