IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE WESCARD ID CARD

The WesCard is your official Wesleyan University Identification Card. Please keep it with you while on campus as it is your passport to an exciting world of technology both on campus and in the Middletown Community.

The magnetic stripe on the back of your WesCard is encoded with information that allows you to access on campus dining facilities as part of your Campus Meal Plan. The stripe is also separately encoded with information that allows you to create a cash pool(The Middletown Cash Program) for use at partcipating on-campus merchants- vending, computer store, Weshop convenience store, bookstore, mail center and off-campus merchants.

Within your WesCard there is a proximity chip which allows you access to your residence hall and various other buildings on campus as your needs may require.

The barcode on the front of your WesCard is encoded with the ability to pick up packages at Wesleyan Station and also with your Olin Library account privileges.

Take advantage of the many services available through the WesCard and make your life at Wesleyan University that much easier.

  • LOST/BROKEN/STOLEN ID PROCEDURES

If you lose your WesCard ID Card, you should go into your WesPortal under Offices & Services/WesCard/eAccounts page/Deactivate Card. This will freeze your card to prevent anyone from using your declining balance points, meals or Middletown Cash. You are solely responsible for all usage on your card. In addition, please notify either the WesCard Office or the Office of Residential Life that you have deactivated your card so that we can also disable proximity access rights to your residence hall. Should you find your card, stop by the WesCard Office during normal office hours and we will reactivate it for you. We do not reactivate cards over the telephone. There is no charge to reactivate your card. If, however you are in need of a replacement card, please email the  WesCard Office at wescard@wesleyan.edu during normal office hours and you will be issued a new one at the current replacement rate. The fee is $ 20.00 for each replaced card. Please remember to inform the office that you froze your card so that it may be unfrozen for further usage. The WesCard office will notify you when your ID is ready to be picked up via email.

If you lose your card during the evening or on a weekend and need a temporary access card for your residence hall or a temporary authorization letter for dining purposes, please go to the Office of Public Safety at 208 High Street. Email the WesCard Office on the next business day with your request to obtain your permanent replacement card.

Please refer to the WesCard Terms and Conditions section of this website for specific information on liability and card holder responsibilities.

The WesCard is the property of Wesleyan University and is non-transferable. The WesCard may be deactivated and retained by a Wesleyan University official when presented by any cardholder making inappropriate or illegal use of it. Misuse, alteration or destruction of the WesCard may result in disciplinary action. Restitution is required for overdrafts on any account resulting from off-line transactions. No interest or other earnings will be paid to the cardholder or credited by Wesleyan University.

It is not necessary to obtain a new card each semester. In order to receive a WesCard you must present a valid form of photo identification at the time of application (driver's license etc.). Your card should be carried at all times and must be presented to University officials upon request.

    Middletown Cash

Once the account is opened, any balance on the account will carry over from semester to semester as long as you are affiliated with Wesleyan University. No funds may be transferred from one cardholder's Middletown Cash account to another cardholder's Middletown Cash account.

The WesCard Magnetic Stripe is encoded with information that allows the user access to on-campus dining facilities as part of the Campus Meal Plan. The stripe is also separately encoded with information that allows the user to create a cash pool (The Middletown Cash Program) for use at participating on-campus and off-campus merchants.

When you graduate, withdraw or terminate employment, the balance on your account will be refunded to you less an administrative fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00). You must notify the WesCard Ofice in writing. No refunds will be made prior to graduation, withdrawal and/or employment termination.
