SUMMER REGISTRATION PROCESS

Summer Registration is the first phase of Wesleyan's course registration process for First-Year students.  During summer registration students will get enrolled in two courses, a First Year Initiative seminar and a first year appropriate course.

Summer registration takes place during June and July, for the Fall semester. In August, students will review their course enrollments and then participate in a second phase of Wesleyan's course registration process, Pre-Registration. Once the semester begins, students will then participate in the third and final registration phase, the in-semester Drop/Add period.

It is very important to recognize how the summer registration phase flows into pre-registration. For instance, all summer registration ranked and additional non-FYI courses that do NOT become enrollments are automatically transferred to pre-registration. In essence, this allows students to have a significant portion of their pre-registration plan in place for their initial advisor meetings in August upon arriving on campus.

Furthermore, it is imperative that students thoroughly complete all of the summer registration sections: Academic Interests, Interests & Goals and Essential Capabilities. This information will serve at least two purposes. Most immediately, it will assist Academic Affairs in regards to Advisor assignments. Additionally, it will serve as a tool for students to craft an academic plan of study for the four years at Wesleyan. Also, throughout their academic career, students will be able to chart their progress on fulfilling their Essential Capabilities.

The summer registration phase does NOT require any sort of advisor or university approval. Therefore, Academic Affairs will review the initial course enrollments. Please note that this is the only phase that does not involve advisors.
