Subject: Safety and Security on Campus
Following a string of laptop thefts over the first several weeks of this semester and reports of several assaults of students over this past weekend, we are writing to underscore our concern for the safety and security of all members of the Wesleyan community and to ask for your assistance.
Public Safety will be adding extra patrols of the campus beginning tonight and continuing through the upcoming weekend. The University has also hired Middletown Police officers to supplement these patrols. Given the size of our campus and our openness to visitors, each of us must make a personal commitment to promote safety and security for ourselves and others by:
Making use of the RIDE shuttle and/or Public Safety escortAlways walk in groups along well-lit and well-traveled routesRealize that alcohol use may impair our judgment and increase our risk Immediately report suspicious persons or activities to Public SafetyAlways secure your belongings – lock your doors and windows and never leave valuables unattendedInstall tracking software on your laptop, smart phone, etc. http://helpdesk.wesleyan.edu/frontdoorsoftware/
Please be in touch with us or with the WSA if you have other suggestions to improve safety and security on campus.
