2018 Orientation Leader Position

The Orientation Program is now accepting applications for 45 Orientation Leaders for the Class of 2022, and new transfer, exchange and visiting students. Orientation Leaders (OLs) will work for International Student Orientation (ISO), First Things First (FTF) and New Student Orientation (NSO).

Orientation Leaders work with Resident Advisors to mentor and guide students during orientation. A small group of six (6) OL's will be selected to work during the First Things First, First Generation Orientation Program whcih coincides with ISO.  Orientation Leaders help manage events, including welcoming international / first gen students at airports, working at residence hall arrival sites, informational forums and social events.

Orientation Leaders may also work more closely with a subgroup of new students such as transfer, exchange, and visiting students. Please indicate your preference for these specific duties on the application form.

Expectations: Orientation Leaders are expected to return to campus on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 Training will begin on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. All Orientation staff must attend training sessions on August 22-28, participate fully during ISO, FTF and NSO (August 27-September 3). Any other commitment during this time period must be pre-approved by the Director of Orientation.

Qualifications: Students from the class of '19, '20 & '21 are eligible to apply. Successful candidates must be reliable, enthusiastic, and compassionate with good verbal communication skills, a positive attitude about campus life, culturally sensitive and experience working with diverse student populations.

Terms and Benefits:

Period of work: August 22- September 2, 2018
Stipend of $250
Housing and most meals covered.

Please note:
Due to potential scheduling conflicts, if you are a Residential Life Staff Member (RA, HM, CA) a Peer Advisor, or Usdan Student Manager for the 2018-2019 academic year, you will not be eligible for the Orientation Leader position.
