2017 Orientation Leader Position

The Orientation Program is now accepting applications for 30-35 Orientation Leaders for the Class of 2021, and new transfer, exchange and visiting students. Orientation Leaders (OLs) will work for both International Student Orientation (ISO) and New Student Orientation (NSO).

Orientation Leaders work with Resident Advisors to mentor and guide students during both ISO and NSO. Orientation Leaders also help manage events, including welcoming international students at airports, working at residence hall arrival sites, informational forums and social events.

Orientation Leaders may also work more closely with a subgroup of new students such as transfer, exchange, and visiting students. Please indicate your preference for these specific duties on the application form.

Expectations: Orientation Leaders are expected to return to campus on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 by noon. All Orientation staff must attend training sessions on August 23-27, participate fully during both ISO and NSO (August 27-September 3). Any other commitment during this time period must be pre-approved by the Director of Orientation.

Qualifications: Students from the class of '18, '19 & '20 are eligible to apply. Successful candidates must be reliable, enthusiastic, and compassionate with good verbal communication skills, a positive attitude about campus life, culturally sensitive and experience working with diverse student populations.

Terms and Benefits:

Period of work: August 23- September 3, 2017
Stipend of $200
Housing and most meals covered.

Please note:
If you apply to be an Orientation Intern and would also like to be considered for the OL position, you do not need to submit both applications. Please only submit the Intern application.

Also, due to potential scheduling conflicts, if you are a Residential Life Staff Member (RA, HM, CA) a Peer Advisor, or Usdan Student Manager for the 2017-2018 academic year, you will not be eligible for the Orientation Leader position.
