1. Room Assessment (March 2014):

 

a) Room dimensions: 

More or less 21' wide X 16' depth X 9' high


 

b) Projection wall dimensions: 

There is enough space for a 120' (diagonal).

 

c)  Current power for the screen, projector and rack, closet, podium, or close:

Currently the screen is manual.

The power outlet for the projector meets current construction code. 

 

d) Current conduit for projector, speakers, rack, and in some cases cable cubby.

 

e) Type of ceiling, and consultation with physical plant for potential asbestos.

 

f) Current distance from the projector to the cart, podium, closet, rack, or cabinet.

The distance is less than 50'.

 

g) Current projector throw distance. And current condition of the projector mount, pipe and base.

-The current throw distance is 9''.

-The mount is not universal. The pipe length is the right size.
 

h) Current amount of working data jacks.

There is no data line for the projector and there are three data jacks for the rack.

 

i) current location of the telephone, and instructions how to save the telephone, included cables, mount and other parts:

There is a telephone in the room, located on the right side of the rack. It isn't necessary to relocate it.

 

j) Evaluation of the current speakers:

The speakers are in good condition, we will reuse them.

 

h) Current number of working data jacks:

There is no data line for the projector.

There are 6 working data jacks behind the rack.

 

k) Current electric screen switch location:

The screen is manual. Will be necessary to hire an electrician to power the screen and install the switch.

 

l) Current light switches:

The Light switches are at the main entrances, but also next to the instructor.

 

m) Wall and floor conditions after removing the old rack, electric or manual screen and in some cases speakers. 

The rack won't be removed. 

 

n) Potential ceiling problems with the new electric screen installation.

There is not problems with the ceiling and screen.

 

o) Storage instructions for the IMS team for hardware or AV equipment. Label Should be Storage/Repurpose/Disposal.  

We will start from the top to the bottom.

p) Instructions for IMS team to leave in one piece some of the data and/or speaker cables.  And what to do with the rest of the cables.

-The audio cable is ran to the ceiling in pipe next to the cabinet,do not touch the speakers cable.

-The rest of the old cables that will be pulled from the pipe  will    be storage in a central location TBD for future recycle or  disposal (in a box most likely next to machine shop). 

 

q) Instructions for the IMS team to tear down the old installation & list of tools required to do so:

-First remove every single piece of equipment that is screw to the front of the rack.

-The equipment will have labels for final destination. 

-The covers, drawer and other hardware without labels should remain on the rack. 

-We will keep the current rack, we just need to remove the rack door and cover empty spaces with rack spaces.

Proceed to retrieve the VGA cable and the RCA cable, leave alone the control cable and the speakers cable.
