Staff Biographies

Anne Martin

Chief Investment Officer, Wesleyan University

In 2010, Anne Martin became Wesleyan University’s Chief Investment Officer.  She previously was a Director at the Yale Investments Office where she worked primarily on the Natural Resources and Private Equity portfolios. Prior to joining Yale, Anne worked as a general partner of private equity firm Rosewood Capital in San Francisco, California where she focused on Internet, software, and business service investments. Prior to that, Martin was a managing director at Alex. Brown (a/k/a BT Alex Brown) in its technology practice, where she worked on corporate finance and merger and acquisitions in the information technology sector. She is a graduate of Smith College, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School.

Anne was a co-founder, board member and Board Chair of the Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins, an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to finding therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( She was part of the national rowing team from 1985-1988 and has also served as a director and co-Chair of the National Rowing Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to preparing the next generation of U.S. rowers for the highest levels of international competition ( Anne serves on the investment committee for Smith College and Choate Rosemary Hall and is an advisor to the Packard Foundation Investment Committee.

Brett Salafia

Brett joined the Investments Office in November 2005.  His responsibilities include monitoring and verifying third party investment performance reporting, managing operational activities, and assisting in manager due diligence.  Brett also acts as a liaison with the University’s Office of Finance and Administration, auditors, custodians, and external counsel.  Prior to joining Wesleyan, Brett held investment accounting, audit, and treasury positions at Phoenix Investment Partners, Cigna, ING, and Aeltus Investment Management.  Brett graduated with a B.S. in Finance from Quinnipiac University.  He received an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Hartford.

Jonathan Farrar

Jonathan joined the Investments Office in October of 2014.  Prior to Wesleyan University, Jonathan was a Director at Highmount Capital, a multi-family office where he was responsible for managing the firm’s external investment manager selection and due diligence efforts in the public markets.  Beginning in 2007, Jonathan was a member of the research team at Veritable, LP, a multi-family office where he covered international investment managers for one of the firm’s internally managed commingled investment pools.  Jonathan graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College with a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Mathematics and was elected to the college's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the Society of Sigma Xi and Pi Mu Epsilon.  He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) and a CFA charterholder.

Doris Zhao

Doris Zhao joined the Investments Office in 2013 after she graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. Doris has completed all three levels of the CFA program.
