Green Street offers lots of ways for faculty to engage with the community, especially through our Discovery AfterSchool Program. You can work with us through your research, your classes, and even your own family. Here are some specific opportunities available at Green Street for faculty and staff.
Grant Support: Faculty members who need to create Broader Impact Plans for National Science Foundation proposals can work with Green Street to develop hands-on science activities for our Discovery AfterSchool Program. There may also be ways for faculty members, especially in mathematics, to connect with our teacher professional development programs. We already have systems in place for K-8 education, so you don’t have to start from scratch. You can work with us to customize one of our modular activities – from 13-week classes to 2-hour half-day activities.
Gallery Space: We are a Middletown Gallery Walk location. The Gallery Walk happens downtown on the first Thursday of the month from May – October. Faculty and staff artists may find use in our gallery space. We have featured several Wesleyan staff and alumni artists.
Service-Learning: Green Street is a great location for Service Learning Classes. We’ve had dance and music education classes and even a computer science class do their service learning components here.
Private Lessons: Want to explore or refine your skills in the arts? Sign up for private lessons with one of our professional teaching artists or a talented Wesleyan student instructor.
Wesleyan Discounts: We also offer special discounts to Wesleyan Faculty and Staff. Wesleyan families receive a 50% discount for their children (Grades 1-8) to attend the Discovery AfterSchool Program. For space rentals, Wesleyan individuals receive a 50% discount for room fees.
Interested faculty members should contact our Director, Sara MacSorley for more information.
