The
student in this position will assist the organization in planning
for the 75th anniversary celebration in 2010. Specifically the
student will be researching the organization's history in old files
to find campaign history, especially when milestones are reached;
the first funding partners/agencies; any trends in community needs
and how United Way responded; prominent/key volunteers;
partnerships, collaborations, projects that UW was part of; and look
for samples of old print materials, newspaper ads, speeches, and
photographs. The student will then need to sort all of this
information into a chronological timeline. The student in this
position will reach out to funding partners to see if they have
stories or photos from the past 75 years relating to United Way.
The student may visit organizations and institutions to research for
stories and photos about UW: Middletown Press, Historical Societies,
Libraries, etc. The student may possibly identify early success
stories & volunteers for follow-up "where are they now" features.
The intern may even conduct interviews with these individuals and
write the stories, if there is an interest in doing so. |
