With Time of 36:20.77, Ellen Davis '07 Sets 5th Record This Year While Winning N.E. Open 10k Crown
Competing in a field of 24 runners during the 10k event at the New England Open Championships at Dartmouth Fri., May 11, Ellen Davis '07 won the event with a team-record 36:20.77 clocking. Her margin of victory exceeded 20 seconds as she knocked off more than 40 seconds from the previous Wesleyan-best time. Her time was the 10th fastest in Division III prior to Nationals and qualified her for her third trip to an NCAA championship this year. She was one of 18 runners in the NCAA field for the 10k in the Division III Championships at Wisconsin-Oshkosh May 24. There she was clocked in 36:23.21, leaving her 10th in the country. She still holds the fastest time in Division III this spring in the 5k heading into Nationals while setting a team mark (16:28.22) and is the current NCAA indoor champion in that event. She set three team records indoors (3k, mile, 5k) during the 2006-07 campaign. Davis' points allowed Wesleyan to finish 22nd of 34 scoring team at the New Englands. Wesleyan did not score at Nationals.
