Cardinals Roll Past St. Joseph, 65-43, with Home Opener vs. WPI Coming up Nov. 29
Defeating St. Joseph College in West Hartford, 65-43, Tues., Nov. 27, the Cardinals improved their record to 2-1 on the year and will inaugurate the home schedule Thurs., Nov. 29 vs. WPI. The win at St. Joseph was the team's seventh straight over the Blue Jays and upped the Cards' all-time mark against St. Joseph to 8-1. Kiah McAndrew-Davis '10 (#32, photo) responded to her first career start by scoring 12 points, one of three Cardinals in double figures. Top scorer Ali Fourney '09 added 17 while Meredith Lowe '09 chipped in with 13 while tying for game-high rebounding honors with seven. Shannah Lively '09, also with a first-time start, grabbed seven caroms as well. Lowe (4 points) and Allie Southam '11 (5 points) triggered a 12-0 Wesleyan run in the first half that broke open an 8-6 game, giving the Cards a 20-6 edge en route to a 30-18 halftime lead. The margin never fell below nine in the second half and grew as large as 24 in the final minute. The squad hit a brisk 77 percent (20-of-26) from the line in the game, led by Fourney's 8-for-8 effort.
