Record-Setting Efforts, Two All-NESCAC Performers Highlight NESCAC-Tournament Season in '07
Setting team records for wins in a season (21) and longest win streak (12 games) during the 2007 campaign, one during which the Cardinals qualified for the NESCAC tournament for the first time in team history, post-season honors have befallen two Wesleyan players. Marcia Whitehead '08 (#6, main photo), who set the team mark for hits in a career by batting .398 this year to up her three-year hits total to 122, was named second-team all-NESCAC and third-team all-New England by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Joining Whitehead with NESCAC laurels was Meaghan Dendy '10 (#7, photo insert lower left), whose .385 average and team-leading 33 runs scored was complemented by her 7-5 pitching record. Dendy was a first-team choice. Molly Gaebe '07 (#9, photo insert upper right) closed out her four years with career records for strikeouts (397), lowest ERA (2.14), doubles (23) and RBI (64). The squad's 9-3 conference mark featured wins over all four NESCAC West opponents, another team first.
