
Wesleyan, seeded seventh in the NESCAC Championship, hosted by Trinity, opened play Fri., Feb. 1 by downing 10th-seeded Conn. College for the second time this year, this time taking a 7-2 decision to advance to the tournament quarterfinals. Up next is second-seeded Williams, which defeated Wesleyan, 9-0, a week earlier during the Little Three matches.
Wesleyan, ranked 18th nationally, won five matches by a 3-0 score against 24th-ranked Conn. At #7, Danielle Craig '13 (photo) was particularly strong, allowing only 14 points by her opponent. Also capturing a 3-0 triumph was #2 Anie Maxwell '15, #4 Grace Zimmerman '13, #6 Kar-Anne Tan '14 and #8 Nell Schwed '14. Wesleyan got 3-1 wins from #5 Claire Miller '15 and #9 Liza Bayless '16.
The Wesleyan vs. Williams quarterfinal crosses over with the #3 Middlebury vs. #6 Bowdoin quarterfinal with winners and losers playing each other Saturday in the second match of the day for the four squads.
