
Led by Zander Nassikas '14 (main photo) and Blair Corbin '15 (photo insert upper right), Wesleyan rolled to 9-0 victories over Colgate and Vassar along with an 8-1 conquering of Tufts during the two-day Wesleyan Round Robin Sat.-Sun., Dec. 1-2. Five Cardinals went 3-0 without dropping a game with Nassikas at #5 and Corbin at #6. Alex Nunez '14 (#7), Raheem Logan '16 (#8) and Cam Rahbar '15 (#9) joined Nassikas and Corbin with perfect performances. Also going 3-0 was #1 Guy Davidson '16 and #3 Ethan Moritz '14.
Ranked 23rd nationally, Wesleyan had a key matchup with #26 Conn. College on Fri., Dec. 7 to close out the first semester action as Tufts was the highest ranked squad played over the weekend at #29. Wesleyan got the job done vs. the Camels with a 7-2 victory. One of the most competitive series for the Cardinals of late, Wesleyan and Conn have now split the last 20 meetings between the teams since 2004, 10-10, though Wesleyan holds a decided 33-14 edge in the overall series.
Most convincing among the four Wesleyan wins by a 3-0 count against Conn was Dan Sneed '15 at #4 as he won 11-6, 11-2, 11-2. Other Cardinal sweeps were turned in by Nassikas, Nunez and Logan. Wesleyan generated its other three victories from Mike DeLalio '15 at #2 by a 3-1 score, Rabhar with a 3-1 triumph and Moritz with a thrilling 3-2 conquering as he came back from a 2-1 deficit to win the last two games, 12-10 and 11-8.
Now 6-2 on the year, Wesleyan's next action is slated for Fri.,Jan. 18 when the Cardinals host Bowdoin.
