With 2011 all-NESCAC competitor Skyler Cummins '13 (right side photo) leading the way for Wesleyan during the annual NESCAC meet, this year hosted by Bowdoin Sat., Oct. 27, Wesleyan took sixth place in the hotly contested event. Tufts came away as the team champion with 66 points while Middlebury trailed by just three points with 69. Bowdoin was third with 88, followed by Bates (89) and Williams (97). Wesleyan finished well ahead of Amherst after falling to the Lord Jeffs two weeks earlier in the Little Three meet.
Pacing the Cardinals to the finish line just 10.5 seconds out of first place over the 8k course was Cummins in a time of 24:37.39. He snagged eighth place while Bryan Marsh '13 (left side photo) took 13th with his time of 24:54.12. Also contributing to the Cardinals' scoring five was Austin Cotant '13 (30th, 25:23.44), Taylor Titcomb '16 (63rd, 26:26.09 and Matt Kim '16 (74th, 26:41.98). In total, 124 individuals took part in the race.
Next up for the squad was the ECAC Division III meet hosted by Williams Sat., Nov. 3. As usual, Wesleyan planned to use a JV squad in the race before putting the varsity to the test in the all-important New England Division III Championship Sat., Nov. 10 at Westfield St. from which team and individual qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Championship will be determined. But at ECACs, only Evan Bieder '15 competed for Weseyan, placing a strong 58th in a field of 287 runners.
